If i do not workout, will i still have to take my whey protein?

Question: “If i do not workout, will i still have to take my whey protein?

Answer: I am a sports nutrition coach. Consider this. You need certain calories coming from Protein in-order to preserve your muscle mass being stripped on your calorie restricted diet. Whey is another source of protein just like your whole foods and lean meats to complete your protein requirement. So irrespective of whether you workout or not, it will ONLY compliment your protein goal . So take it and consider it as a source for protein.

Many people skip taking whey the day they dont workout thinking Whey is a food only for people who workout because of the whey brands making similar supplements for Active people(Multi Vitamins, BCAA, Creatine, Etc). The models with huge muscles convince you that its a workout superfood. So try completing your protein goal with Egg whites, lean meats, Whey OR a combination of above foods.

Also, The fate of an amino acid after it is transported to the liver is highly dependent on the body’s needs for that moment. Some amino acids enter the blood stream, where they join amino acids that have been liberated during the constant breakdown and synthesis of body tissue. Other amino acids are used by the liver to manufacture many of the specialized proteins such as liver enzymes, lipoproteins, and the blood protein (albumin). So consider this,

1. EARLY MORNING: Your body will be craving for nutrition as soon as you wake up as you eat the night before. So having whey early morning will keep you satiated also efficiently using the protein
2. PRE WORKOUT: During intense workout that lasts 90 minutes and longer, it helps in Protein Degradation and preserving your muscle mass from being stripped to meet your energy demands. On a fat loss goal, a pre workout ingestion is recommended 30 mins prior to ur workout.
3. POST WORKOUT: It helps in quick recovery and in protein synthesis. on a calorie surplus and muscle building goal a post workout whey is preferred.
