I always wanted to follow diet but have a lot of food cravings

Question: I always wanted to follow nutrition and diet but have a lot of food cravings. Can you tell me why it happens and how to over come that?

Answer: I am a sports Nutrition coach. consider this. I Want you to understand “Hunger” Vs “Cravings” that will lead to “Need to Eat” Vs “ Want to eat”. Cravings are foods calling you and you are driven; fundamentally a craving is a strong belief that eating a particular food will make us feel better. People don't crave for healthy, nutrient-rich foods that actually contain all those vitamins and minerals that we might lack like Carrots and Tomatoes. people crave for chocolates, sugars, , Fatty & Creamy, Salty and smells good foods.

Serotonin and dopamine are neurotransmitters. Serotonin makes us feel groovy and relaxed. It also tells us to stop eating.Dopamine, in contrast, is our “reward” neurotransmitter. It gives us a “high”. About 90% of our body’s serotonin is actually in our GI tract. When we eat, we release serotonin and dopamine. Folks who struggle with overeating are often just trying to boost their levels of serotonin and dopamine. Eating carbohydrates (particularly simple sugars and starches) can help release serotonin, which soothes and relaxes us. Cravings can also happen because of Hormonal imbalances and inflammation.

How to avoid Cravings:
* If the craving is minor, ignore it.
* If the craving is moderate, distract yourself.
* If the craving is overwhelming, have a small portion of what you’re craving

Listen to Body Cues and Not mind Cues. If your body does not benefit from the food don't eat it.
